FAQs

Q. Is boxing safe for all ages? A. Yes! Boxing can be trained to your comfort level, with those wanting to pursue competition in the sport accepting more health risks just like in any high level sport. Here at CBC we typically require group class participants to be aged 14+ to help keep with the flow of our classes but see Coach C about starting a younger child with 1:1s.

Q. What fitness level do I need to be at to consider training in boxing? A. While boxing is a very physically demanding sport and our classes are designed to be taken at your own pace… I typically recommend new athletes be prepared to withstand cardio movements for up to the full hour and thirty minute duration of our classes. Our beginner friendly classes are a lot more assessable for new athletes.

Q. Is boxing for everyone? A. Yes! Learning the sport of boxing is absolutely for everyone and I do believe can benefit anyone who chooses to pick up the sport in their free time. Fighting, on the other hand, is not for everyone. I personally believe based off both experience and general science that the sport divides itself between fitness boxers and competition/pre-comp athletes. There is no shame in leaning towards the fitness boxing side… Combat sports are in their own separate league for a good reason, fighting is brutal and should only be considered if the risks have been assessed by the athlete on their own terms.
